Community Consolidated School District 62 Calendar 2026-2027

Community Consolidated School District 62 contains two different K–8 experiences. Most students follow a conventional neighborhood route from an elementary school to Chippewa or Algonquin Middle School. Iroquois Community School keeps kindergarten through eighth grade on one campus and operates on a balanced, year-round calendar with intersessions.

Iroquois has no ordinary neighborhood attendance area. Families apply during the district’s annual window, seats are limited, and sibling priority is part of the placement process. Incoming kindergarten families first establish enrollment through their home-school route before completing the Iroquois application. Students who do not receive an offer remain in the regular neighborhood sequence.

The calendar difference changes more than the opening date. District 62’s ten-month schools begin on the conventional late-summer schedule and separate elementary from middle school. Iroquois begins earlier, distributes breaks through the year, and avoids a campus change after fifth grade. The district also limits discretionary transfers among neighborhood schools, considering factors such as available space and family-provided transportation.

Both paths end after eighth grade, when students generally move into Maine Township High School District 207. Comparing District 62's two routes requires attention to school assignment, calendar rhythm, and campus continuity. Iroquois is a distinct application pathway inside District 62; it does not alter the separate high-school district that follows.
