About McHenry Community Consolidated School District 15

McHenry Community Consolidated School District 15 uses two elementary models. Edgebrook and Hilltop serve grades K–3 and lead into Duker for grades 4–5, while Riverwood and Valley View keep students on one K–5 campus.

Both patterns enter the middle-school system in sixth grade. A separate boundary assigns McHenry Middle School or Parkland School for grades 6–8, so the K–3 or K–5 starting point alone does not supply the complete District 15 route.

Eighth grade marks an administrative handoff. McHenry Community High School District 156 has its own board, registration system, calendar, and high-school arrangements. The shared McHenry name links the communities, while District 15 controls the K–8 route and District 156 independently determines high-school eligibility.

PreK families should select PreK because those students have no school on five Early Release dates and finish one day earlier. Kindergarten through eighth-grade families should select Grades K-8.
