North Shore School District 112 Calendar 2026-2027

The dual-language map in North Shore School District 112 changes according to a student’s kindergarten cohort. The district is a PK–8 system serving Highland Park, Highwood, and nearby territory, and neighborhood attendance areas still govern residence-based elementary and middle-school placement outside the program.

For 2026–27, all incoming dual-language kindergarten classes are being placed at Oak Terrace. Older cohorts remain distributed under the current Oak Terrace and Red Oak arrangements as the program moves gradually.

The district’s published plan calls for Oak Terrace to become the full K–5 dual-language elementary site in 2027–28, with Northwood continuing the middle-school portion. A future full consolidation should not be projected backward onto students already assigned under the transition schedule.

Interest is indicated during registration, and the program is designed to balance Spanish- and English-speaking students. A dual-language placement may change the elementary campus but does not create general open enrollment among District 112 schools. Incoming kindergarteners use Oak Terrace in 2026–27; full K–5 consolidation is scheduled for 2027–28; older cohorts continue under transition arrangements until that consolidation is complete. After eighth grade, students enter an independent high-school system.
