Round Lake Community Unit School District 116 Calendar 2026-2027

Round Lake Community Unit School District 116 brings five elementary and two middle-school routes into one Round Lake High School. The district’s language services follow the same broad school network, but the instructional model changes at the transition to secondary grades.

For qualifying native Spanish-speaking students, the one-way dual-language program operates from prekindergarten through fifth grade, developing literacy and academic content in Spanish and English. In grades 6–12, qualifying Spanish-speaking students receive Transitional Bilingual Education, with Spanish and English instruction shifting toward English as proficiency grows. The change at sixth grade is a change in program model, not the end of bilingual support.

The Transition Center serves eligible young adults after the conventional high-school program through individualized preparation for employment, community participation, and adult life. Round Lake has two different transitions: an instructional shift from elementary dual language to secondary TBE, and a later individualized move from high school toward adulthood.
