About Alton Community Unit School District 11
Alton Community Unit School District 11 carries an Alton name but an elementary geography that extends well into Godfrey. Eight elementary attendance areas serve the district; North, Lewis & Clark, Gilson Brown, and the Early Childhood Center all have Godfrey addresses, while other campuses are located in Alton. The city or ZIP code printed on an address cannot replace the district's current LocateMySchool result and street list, and the district office retains final placement authority.
After the elementary years, the separate attendance areas converge at Alton Middle School and Alton High School. A move between the Alton and Godfrey portions of District 11 may change the elementary campus without creating another middle- or high-school route.
Student support is embedded in that common system. Every District 11 campus operates under a Title I schoolwide model. At Alton High, Minority Excellence supports minority students taking honors, Advanced Placement, and dual-credit courses through mentoring, academic planning, and scheduling assistance. The program changes the support available inside the comprehensive high school, while the district's geographic structure remains a distributed Alton–Godfrey elementary map followed by one shared secondary sequence.
