Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 Calendar 2027-2028

Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 normally assigns students through elementary and middle-school attendance boundaries before every ordinary route reaches York Community High School. In one defined portion of the district, however, the date a family purchased its home can affect the applicable boundary rule. Affected Edison-area homes purchased on or after June 1, 2022 follow revised boundaries; certain earlier purchasers retain board-approved choices.

That rule is unusually specific. It applies to identified streets and areas, not to every District 205 household, and it can influence both elementary placement and, for some affected families, the choice between Bryan and Sandburg middle schools. The district address locator is intended for current post-June 2022 purchases, while families whose ownership predates the change may need the district office to interpret the grandfathered options. A current address alone may be insufficient without the purchase date.

Two-way dual language at Conrad Fischer creates another admissions layer. Kindergarten priority goes first to Spanish-speaking English learners who live within the Fischer boundary, then to English-speaking students in that boundary. If seats remain, corresponding out-of-boundary groups are considered before a districtwide lottery for remaining places. The program continues at Churchville Middle School, but proximity to Fischer does not create admission. Ordinary boundaries, the purchase-date exception, and the published dual-language priority process can each change a different part of the route; York High School remains the shared final destination.
