Hinsdale Township High School District 86 Calendar 2026-2027

Hinsdale Township High School District 86 assigns students to Hinsdale Central or Hinsdale South through its residence boundary. The K–8 district previously attended and the mailing community may describe where a student comes from, but neither replaces the District 86 map.

As of January 2026, the district recognizes two transfer pathways. Choice Transfer permits a student assigned to the higher-population school—currently Central—to request the lower-population school—currently South—when space is available. Student Experience Transfer addresses documented, individualized circumstances such as social-emotional, safety, or family-logistics concerns. Each request is reviewed first at the assigned school and then by the superintendent.

Approval carries conditions. The family provides transportation; programs, electives, activities, and athletic eligibility are not guaranteed; the agreement can be revoked for attendance, academic, disciplinary, enrollment, staffing, or program reasons. A transfer applies to the individual student and creates no automatic right for siblings or later applicants.

The Hinsdale Transition Center serves eligible young adults with disabilities ages 18–22 through life, vocational, postsecondary, and community instruction. It has no neighborhood zone. District 86 retains two geographic high-school communities, with limited transfers operating as reviewed exceptions and transition programming occupying a later, individualized stage.
