Indian Prairie Community Unit School District 204 Calendar 2026-2027

Indian Prairie Community Unit School District 204 is a large K–12 system with twenty-one elementary schools, seven middle schools, and three comprehensive high schools: Metea Valley, Neuqua Valley, and Waubonsie Valley. Address boundaries connect students through that ordinary sequence. The district also operates preschool, post-high-school transition services, and alternative programs, so a list of sites includes more than neighborhood schools.

Gail McKinzie High School illustrates the distinction. Its Indian Plains program provides credit recovery, primarily for fourth-year students recommended through their home high school, while Achieve serves students with individualized education programs who need a smaller setting. Students are not enrolled there simply because they live nearby, and their diplomas continue to identify the assigned comprehensive high school. McKinzie changes the educational setting without creating a fourth geographic high-school zone.

A further facilities change is approved for 2027, when the Birkett Freshman Center is scheduled to house STEPS, McKinzie credit-recovery programming, Pathways, and other district services. That future phase does not describe where every program operates in 2026–27. District 204’s scale makes raw school counts especially misleading: three comprehensive high schools govern residence-based enrollment, while McKinzie, STEPS, preschool, and the planned Birkett uses are entered through program eligibility or district planning without a new neighborhood boundary. Current assignment, specialized placement, and the approved 2027 facilities phase belong to different timelines.
