Bloomington Public Schools District 87 Calendar 2026-2027

Bloomington Public Schools District 87 brings six elementary communities together at one specific point. Students attend neighborhood elementary schools through fifth grade, then meet for the first time as a districtwide group at Bloomington Junior High School. Bloomington High School continues the same one-school secondary route. Sixth grade is the districtwide merger point; District 87 does not maintain parallel middle-school paths.

Bloomington Career Academy belongs to a different layer of the system. District 87 operates the academy, but its current participating-school list reaches seventeen public and private high schools across the region. Students attend technical and career courses there while remaining enrolled in their home high school. The academy has its own facility and schedule, yet it is neither a second District 87 comprehensive high school nor an attendance-area alternative to Bloomington High.

For District 87 families, the elementary boundary determines the first campus, and the ordinary route then becomes fixed: Bloomington Junior High followed by Bloomington High. The Career Academy expands what a high-school student can study by drawing several school systems into a shared regional center. Keeping those two structures separate—the one-school District 87 secondary sequence and the multi-district career center—prevents the facilities list from being mistaken for additional neighborhood-school choices.
