About Urbana School District 116
Urbana School District 116 brings five K–5 elementary schools into one districtwide Sixth Grade Center, followed by Urbana Middle School for grades 7–8 and Urbana High School for grades 9–12. Current registration instructions and the individual school sites establish that sequence, even though one district directory line still labels Urbana Middle as grades 6–8.
Yankee Ridge Multilingual is the district’s K–5 Spanish and French two-way immersion school. Incoming kindergarten families use the current application and information process, and participating students continue language study through designated programming at the Sixth Grade Center and Urbana Middle School.
Tiger Academy provides an alternative setting through a different placement process. It operates beside the common grade-center sequence, whose ordinary secondary progression remains Sixth Grade Center, Urbana Middle, and Urbana High.
